Community Services In The Context of Social Cohesion
Introduction: The consequences of the digitalisation of modern society are perceived at every step, with issues of the digital divide, digital literacy, social inclusion and also social cohesion. It is the concept of social cohesion that supports the cohesion of people, which is the basis for a humane society that puts community services at the forefront. The purpose of the research is to examine the basic psychological needs of all three generations in Slovenia and to connect the findings with the concept of social cohesion and community services. Methods: The research is based on a quantitative research approach, where we obtained data on the basic psychological needs of people from January 2021 to January 2022 using the survey method. We included 1963 representatives of all three generations in the sample, using t-test, analysis of variance, and correlation and regression methods to test the hypotheses. Results: The results of the research confirm the differences between generations in the perception of competencies, autonomy and connectivity. In the younger generation has more pronounced affiliation with society, the middle generation has a stronger perception of its competence, and in the older generation has more autonomy. Conclusions: In the digitalization of society, it is necessary to take into account the concept of social cohesion, in which the basic psychological needs of each individual are important. All generations need to feel that they are an important part of the mosaic of an inclusive society. In such a society, they are the foundation of community service, through which autonomy, competence and affiliation are strengthened, which is the basis for a humane society and 'society tailored to man'.
